Default Garage door transmitter

Has anyone had problems with long term use of the garage door transmitter? I noticed after 3 years, transmitter button #I stopped working and would "illuminate solid" when pressed. I switched to transmitter button #II and it worked until this past week (year 6). When pressed, the indicator light should illuminate in a "fast flickering" state. Could the contacts be wearing out or just need to be cleaned?????

I only have one more button left, before I have to start looking for a whole new assembly...

Did you just try to reprogram it? Erase the codes and make it re-learn. Worth a try. My car is a 2003 and it works fine.

Yes, that was the first thing I did. Thanks for the suggestion.
