can anyone help ,ive just bought an s type ,3ltr auto ,it has a small rubble on the rear passenger side when driving at low speeds,it is a bit lumpy when ticking over when cold ,but the main problem is the gearbox it banged ! when i gave her a little to much stick and jumped about in the gears ,that will teach me ,and i was travelling at 60 last night and it was like it was jumping gears ,can you top up the gearbox ? and surjestions wellcome

looking on the log book all i see is petrol 2967 cc
its a jaguar s-type v6 se auto ,if thats any help

Your car has the Ford 5R55 transmission. Chances are that you have an issue with the valve body. The springs are known to fail causing all kinds of shift issues. I highly recommend getting a replacement valve body or rebuild yours, and do a fluid and filter change.

Do a search on this forum about the 5 speed valve body and you will find some very helpful information.

 

having taken a longer run yesterday and never driven a automatic the fault surfaced again ,this time realy telling me what it was about ,not gears as i thought but misfiring ,to a piont that i was left on the hard shoulder,it was like i had kanaroo juice in ! jumping everywhere ,i stoped the car waited a few mins and it started and run okk for about 3 miles then it did it again ,so i ended up parking up off the motorway for a while to give her a minute ,20 mins later all was good and off i went, she is misfireing a let can you help ?
