Default A ghost in my car!

Sometimes the air conditioner panel is flickering on and off, and I don't know how to change this. Through prayer, no joke, it stopped flickering and is now stable. I am too scared to change anything there as I don't want it to start flickering again, so will have to be content with the ac setting of 16 degrees celsius. Luckily I can put the fan speed on minimum and close the vents, so I shouldn't freeze to death while driving lol!

When I start the car, it also says "Rear tail lamp not working" or something like that, I checked, it does work, and luckily this message is switching off now after about 22 seconds. There must be a ghost in the car, as the side passenger's mirror still sometimes loose it's setting and hangs flat like a dead flower.

Something else that's odd is also showing on the A/C screen. It says "EXIT 5" and sometimes "exit 8" and then changes to "Exit 7" all by itself. What is this? It's an old car, modes s, 2004, I think that's before GPS has been invented so it can't be that! Maybe the ghost is trying to send me a message.

I find the manual of the car strange. It will give info on everything, but only info! Nowhere is to be found a section that explains "How to set the ac" for example. Or "How much should the tire pressure be" for this model. Can anyone help with answers? Ironically there is a thick detailed book on how to set the radio, but that's it!

The manual does have some settings in it it definitely has the A/C settings.

I would say check your battery. Time and time again i read on the forums where the battery is the problem. Jaguars don't like low batteries and start acting weird when they are going out.

As far as tire pressure check the sticker in the drivers door. That has all that info on it.

Sat nav has been fitted in cars since early 90s

However it was not until 2000 that the United States made a more accurate GPS signal available for civilian use.

+1 on checking battery, and locating the tire pressure label on the driver door jamb (which is the left front door on my US car).

Ummm, I think you're reading the wrong book. Chapter 5-1 of the owners manual answers the A/C questions in detail.

Thanks for the replies. Actually, I got a new battery for my car, and maybe the AC panel stopped flashing because the new strong battery now kicked in. The site says my "garage is empty". When do a member use the garage, when you have a car for sale? I am glad to hear 7.1 km per litre is considered as very good (mixed high way and city driving). I'm taking my car for and oil change and filter & tire check this week and am interested to see if this will further improve her performance, every bit help in this economy!

It's not EXIT, it's 'EXT' short for 'external temp'. The numbers are in degrees C.

Sounds like battery may have fixed your issues! That is good news, and a sound investment,

is the heating and air conditioning all working properly now? controls all work?
