Default Global open yeah... But global close???

I have a 2000 Jaguar S-type V8. I always thought the global open feature was cool. Recently I was able to do a global close with the remote. I was never able to do this before. I was only able to do this by putting the key in the door. But heres the problem... The global close w/ the remote worked for about a weekend. Now in order for me to do a global close I have to put the key in the door and turn it like old times. This has me wondering. Is there a way to turn this feature off/on. If so, how? I would like to be able to close all windows and sunroofwith the remote again. Please help.

That is something I would have to look up. Global close from key, yes. But global open and close from remote I don't think was the norm.

Well guys I lie to you not. Last weekend I was able to do a global close using the remote. I never knew my car could do that and I was thinking about asking the dealer if they could hook that up somehow. Now I'm %100 sure that it's possible. I'm just wondering how I was able to do it for that short period. Maybe something I did that triggered it. If anybody knows how it can be done please let me know.

Drivers door latch was probably sticking internally and held the lock signal on for too long. That made it seem as though global close was working.

I remember reading some time ago that the dealer could programme global closing on the cars that had been fitted with safety cut outs on the windows but were sometimes reluctant to do so.
The techs don't seem to think so in this thread, can anybody confirm if this is possible or not?

Sounds like there may bea rush to the dealers if it can be done!

THIS IS ANOTHER QUIRKY THING ABOUT JAGUAR.

I THOUGHT I WAS DOING SOMETHING WRONG.

DON"T KNOW WHAT GLOBAl-OPEN CLOSE IS, BUT I CAN OPEN ALL MY WINDOWS WITH MY
REMOTE "CAR OFF", BUT I CAN ONLY CLOSE ALL THE WINDOWS WITH THE KEY IN THE DOOR.

FIGURE THAT ONE OUT.

WHY ONE BUT NOT THE OTHER?

OH . . . . AND BY THE WAY JAGUAR IT IS A TRUNK NOT A BOOT.

HAD TO READ THE MANUAL TO SEE WHY MY BOOT WAS OPEN. I LIVE IN TEXAS
AND BOOT'S GO ON YOUR FEET.

AAHHHH. . . THAT FELT GOOD , HAVE TO CALL MY PSYCHIARIST AND CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT

There sure are a lot of Texans on these boards. Maybe we should get Jim to give us our own region!

Don't cancel that appoinment, Mojo. The doctor wants a Jag, too. You see it as an appoinment, he sees it as a car payment!

Cajunmojo mate.....you have instrument pack set to UK English. You can change it to US English.
Also the global close on your car can be programmed to work. Gloabl open and global close is nice feature to have.

Just hold down the unlock button on remote. You can open windows a little or all the way depending on how long you hold the button. Sunroof also

It doesn't make sence to have to stand outside the car holding the key in the door to do the global close. It's easier to just roll the windows up before you get out. Does anybody know how much it would cost to have the global close feature working using the remote? And why do all your windows close if the door latch gets stuck? Is that part of the security system?
