well I had another issue that required me to contact a dealer and it looks like I might be getting a new ACM.

Thanx for all your posts!!!!

The good news out of this is I have another post for the air box cover and the dealer had one ordered for another customer that didn't pick it up and he wanted to get rid of cheap!

Yes it appears the ACM is some type of Dension box. Have you seen this before??

Yes the story of one guys attempt to update the firmware in the ACM with the latest Desion software to see if it would then allow their bluetooth module to make a cell phone work via bluetooth and be totaly integrated. I kind of knew that one wasn't going to work.

I just found out the name of the big car stereo shop in Atlanta that removed the stuff from my car prior to delivery so I'm going to call them and see if they can tell me what the setup was.

Maybe they can explain what happened to my USB interface?
I know the Bluetooth was a Parrot kit so perhpas they can tell which system was used, how it was connected and functioned.

If I could have the Parrot mute the stereo for calls and then have the USB on my ACM be accessible I think that's the best one can do.

Dension has ignored my inquiries.

I don't believe that the Parrot has an analog AUX ouput that could be fed to the aux input on the ACM and then automatically switched.

Stay tuned.

Bob - did you manage to find the .co.uk stuff? There's at least one member I recall seeming (to me, but the ACM is foreign territory to me!) very knowledgeable.

Yes I did and thank you for the idea. I will have to go back and read them again. This has been a stepwise educationional project. One forward and several backwards at times.

A lot of the postings in threads are incomplete and often someone is charging towards a solution, gets very close and then poof they stop posting. Reminds me a bit of Fermats theorem. Look that one up.

Once you know more about the issue re-reading the posts can reveal things you missed the first time around.

I know asking about them again can get tedious for people but if particular information wasn't covered or was unclear in the original posts I dont know what else one can do.

Well I just received the ACM kit from the dealer (Hennessey) and it is nicely packaged. It has everything you need. It retails for $420 but I got it for around $350. When I start the project I'll document it all with pictures and steps. The kit has a lot of stuff with it! Nicely done if I do say so myself.

Bob S might be grateful for details about the USB (pics, lead length, er, chime in here Bob lol) as his seems missing.

USB? What's a USB? I have no idea what yer talkin' about ... ;>))

By all means let's see lots of pictures.

I contacted "The Big Car Audio Shop" in Atlanta that removved all the "stuffd" from my car. They weren't terribly interested in helping me figure this out. I just know it was some kind of a Parrot system and that they can make anything work. "Just bring yer car down". Right, all the way from Jersey. Fuggetaboutit.

It's all frickin' magic. Oh pleeazee ...

I'm through page 2 now on this thread and it seems potentially even more mystifying with all the versions and updating.

If this the guy you were thinking about?

The shop in Atlanta that did the unistall wasn't terribly helpful except to say that it was a Parrot system they removed from my car and that they can make any Parrot systerm work with the Jaguar. They were short on the audio interface details though.

I haven't heard back from Dension or PHD12VOLT as yet.
Before I pull everything out of the center console I'd like to know if I may have an ACM module that doesn't support USB or if it's just a missing/mislaid cable.

No-one in that thread seemed especially knowledgeable about the ACM.... but I never did pay much attention as I just couldn't imagine springing the cash to get one!

Yeah, I can see just why you'd want to know about the USB being supported or not. Do the brochures about it and the ACM fitting pdf not provide the answer? Er, I guess you already looked

There is mention of several versions of this ACM. Mine does not have the blinkity blink blink indicator lamp so I have to assume I have an earlier version.

I haven't been able to find a PDF of the fitting instructions that shows how to remove the NAV screen and connect everything up. I've seen it mentioned though. With that in hand and if looks like a reasonable driveway project I might have a look for myself.

I also haven't been able to find a definition of each of these models with their related specs. But it's hard to imagine one with no USB since that's how firmware update are accomplished.

I need that installtion guide pdf. The search continues.

I saw a users guide but no installation guide.

Is it in the pay-for-service section?

OK I found these two. I'm not sure what the differences are yet.

http://www.ownerinfo.jaguar.com/extf..._module_v2.pdf

http://www.ownerinfo.jaguar.com/extf...dio_module.pdf

I don't see any difference. I also don't see any references to the navigation screen which makes me think that these are not what I'm looking for.

Bob S.:
I have attached the factory guide for the ACM install into a Jaguar S Type. Yes you can do it. I did. The clips holding on the interior pieces have a great amount of strength and this was the most difficult part. I really didn't want to break anything because of cost and the amount of time it takes to get anything!!

It's 21 MB and is too big to attach??

21 MB is way too much to e-mail or upload in here .
The chances are you either try rapidshare or hotfile to upload such a part .

Yes I was going to suggest that but then I WAS able to retrieve it from my ISP's mail server.

He gracious scanned his copy and sent it over to me. Something in the scannning/pdf coversion process made it grow to 22MB.

The earlier versions of that document with a similar number of pages is only about 1GB. Thanks again for the help.

Default More mystery

So today I was able to remove the center console & radio/NAV in an effort to see why I have no USB connector installed in my center bin.

I see only two wires going from the center bin towards the radio cluster.

From the radio cluster side I SEE NO ACM BOX but I do see the harness that's suppose to fit in between the CDC changer harness and the ACM box?

Those cables that are supposed to go to the ACM box then disappears down the RH side of the dash towards the floor and towards the rear a bit.

I would have to remove the carpet on the LH side of the RH passenger foot-well to see where this might be going.

This is not where the ACM is show as being installed in the instructions.

So is it possible that there's an alternate location for this box or maybe mine is just gone ... ?

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Bob S.
