Help a girl out! I've made a mess of my headlight and made the hubby mad. :(
SubscribePlease help! I tried to replace the turn signal bulb for my hubby. I am normally quite mechanically inclined, but not this time. Apparently, I didn't have the bulb seated well, and it fell off into the assembly when I tried to reconnect everything. Now it is rolling around in there and cannot be reached. AAHHH! In the meantime, the back part of the assembly is now loose. It wasn't like this before. This is our first jag, and I am lost as to how to get this thing loose and fix it. Please help!!!

or tie a magnet to a string and fish for the bulbs
option three, remove the headlight.

Tried tweezers. But, since the back of the assembly came loose, it has fallen to the bottom section. How do I remove the headlight?

the actual headlight may need the bumper removed. remove the lowbeam lightbulb and use the tweezers from there. theres is a clip holding the lightbulb in place , undo the clip and feed the tweezers through that hole.

So after I get it out how do I tighten up the back reflective plate of the assembly? It is very loose.Originally Posted by StrateLoss

your reflector is loose ? if the actual reflector is loose then your headlight needs to come off, and you need to open up the light and pop the reflector back onto its pivot.

you know, maybe if you go snap a photo it will clear things up a little bit.
cause if its what it sounds like your saying is what im thinking about. you are better off buying a new headlights assembly.

I feel your pain. Not to worry you, but the tail light on my Jag was out. I bought a replacement bulb at Autozone and proceeded to try to replace it myself. I have done this on my Wife's Nissan Quest and it was a 5 minute project. Very easy. Not so on the Jag. After a lot of removing trim pieces I could not only not get the light fixed but I somehow broke the open trunk sensor. A couple of hundred later both where fixed by the dealer.

Hhhhmmmmm I hope crittie didn't forget about the headlight in the oven, or did hubby come home and find the front end of their Jaguar dismantled and decide to dismantle something else (limb by limb).

IN case my wife is correspondent, a filet served in a nice set of pumps prior to review of circumstances works pretty well but might delay repair a little.
I would be careful about heating head lamp assembly and check at frequent intervals if that is the recomended way to dissassemble.
Lots of sympathy, had to take a Jetta in for professional service to change lamp, even with manual in hand, it did not seem to allow movement in indicated direction. I chickened out as I would rather they pay for assembly if something goes wrong due to inexperience. Cost $45.00 with lamp. Service manager said they stock the assemblies to repair do-it yourselfer boo boo's for about $350.00 plus install and move about the same quantity as lamps by themselves.
If you are still trying to get lamp out, a retreival claw with push button is usually a handy item to have around.
Good luck,
