Help me spend my money
Hi Everyone,
I am currently in the market for two Jags. One is the 2003 X-Type with 110,000kmsfor $16,000CAD and a 2001 S-Type with 85,000 for $15,000CAD. Could you please provide me with your thoughts on these two cars? Do I have to take the car to a Jag dealer to have maintenance and repairs? Are these cars problematic? Any thoughts concerning the purchase of one of the aforementioned cars is appreciated.
Please to meet you,
Derek

to answer the First Question: NO
the Second question: YES
I'm not familiar with the S type of 1999-on, (only withmy 1965 S type), but I hear and read many horror stories about the moderns, so I would make sure you start out with a choice car that has had all its problems and bugs taken care of, because remember, you are buying someone else's problem.
good luck.

If I were you, I'd turn down both cars and look for an 03 or later S-Type. To my understanding, the XType still currently has a weak transmission. The pre-03 SType most def has tranmission problem along with additional engine problems.
Hi Everyone,
Thank you for your thoughts. I found a 2002 X-Type with 122,000KM for $12,500CAD. I would really appreciate your thoughts concerning this purchase. I noticed that it will need to have the airbags investigated because the light is flashing when the car is running.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

NOOO! Don't do it. LOL! The worse X to get is the 02, but don't tell that to owners of the 02's. I would DEFINITELY go 03+, specially if it's been in an accident and it's high mileage.
so far the replies bear me right, these cars are problematic and you might find yourself with very expensive repairs if someone else has not done them.

Both sound like bad ideas to me. Unless you have tons of money (in which case buy an 03+ S type V8 or R with warranty) and buying them is a drop in the bucket you might go broke trying to maintain them. Either get something different or save up some more and then get a better example.
Hey bacardi, that report was retarded and probably sponsored by honda or toyota or both. The fact that they said 2 nissans instead of 3 and not understanding that the X-type is basically an American car shows their credibility. Also, I could by a Prius and hold it for 15 years, but then I'd be driving a prius for 15 years. Anyone else see the problem here? BTW, ddasilva, only ultimate for a Jag mate. If you want, try and put the regular and watch your car nearly brake down until you put octane booster in the tank.
