Help needed from all you old timers
No disrespect with the old timers comment, just meant more seasoned jaguar owners!
Here's the story ill try to make it short an sweet, I recently picked up a 2000 S type 3L with 90k for 4500, not sure if that was a steal but still seems well worth the money. I'm in the process of installing air suspension and I understand not to many of you bag your cars as its more of a form<function kinda thing...
I bought a bag over air ride set up so it's kinda universal, for thoes of you who may not know its just an airbag that slips over the shock an replaces the spring. I'm halfway through the install, everything is plumbed, tank, compressor and wires all mounted so there is no turning back now. I'm at the strut install part now and found that the 20x8.5 wheels I'm running are either too big or I need shorter shocks... My question is, are these Bilstien sport shocks you guys talk about shorter than stock? Or is just the spring height different?
With the front shocks completely aired out Im not as low as I want to be
basically I'm barely tucking tire. So I tried replacing front with rear shocks which are significantly shorter (4-6inches) and that was two low. Complete aired up I couldn't turn the wheel and the bag was rubbing on the brace that wraps around and a over the wheel and shock was bottomed out before the bag was compressed.
Basically what I need is a shock that is about 2 inches shorter than the stock suspension, but has more piston travel if that makes any sense?
What are some of you guys doing to lower your cars? Or does anybody have the name of someone on the forum who may have bagged a Stype before? I've defiantly seen a handful of them online scrolling through the forums and google images but can't seem to figure out who owns them.
Someone help!
Thanks
Julian
Promise ill post pictures when it's all done! The car is a mess right now

No one here has bagged an s-type yet.
As for most of us, we use the stock shocks when we lower it. I believe the sports are just a higher rate and not any physically lower. Your best bet would be to call bilstein to see if they can recommend a shorter shock. Either that or measure eye to eye fully extended and find one that is 2-3 inches shorter.
Good luck and I can't wait for pics.
