Default How to change S type sun visor

I have a 2003 S-type. The mirror covers broke on both sun visors. I have obtained new sun visors but need to understand how to remove the old ones. I have taken the cover off the mount and removed the screws, but the electrical connection appears to be buried under the headliner. How do I get to this to unplug it and plug the replacement in?

If I remember correctly the connector is 'hot-glued' to the back of the headliner near the front.

You will need to remove the trim at the windscreen and pull the front of the headliner down to access the glued connector. I guess the engineers thought it would be a good idea for limiting things that might cause a 'rattle'.

I think some people have damaged the connector by just 'yanking' the wires out of it.

You can just repair the mirror/illumination.
TSB has info for the repair but the little springs fall out and can be reinstalled.

You can also repair the covers if one of the pegs have broken off, obtain a small quantity of 3mm plastic rod (ebay, very cheap), cut square the remains of the old peg then drill with a 3mm drill bit and expoxy in the rod. Cut to length and clean off the edges with a bit of sandpaper. The cover will flex enough to insert both sides.

Hmm seems to me there is a very well written DIY with pics.

Default Installing replacement sun visors,

I want to replace the sun visors (2005 S type) but don’t want to mess with the electrical part. Can I just replace it wit a non light visor without plugging the electrical devices. I really don’t care on the lights around the mirrors.
