Hub & Bearing
I have a new sound that's popped up and am wondering if it might be a sign that one of my Hub & Bearings is about to go.
It's a keys rattling sound that seems to appear as I drive. It goes away temporarily at times if I hit a bump; or turn a certain way. What it really sounds like it a metal ring around something that spins and it just bangs around and spins around it. The high jingle noise is constant when driving.
Do bearings make that key rattling noise when they're going bad??
FYI
Currently 78K miles

You are probably hearing the metal caps on your factory lug nuts coming loose and rattling. The factory lug nuts are really lousy and tend to come apart easily because they are cheaply made. Check out the threads here on the forum involving much better aftermarket solid lug nuts. There are several sources for them, both online and in parts stores. Use "solid one-piece lug nuts" as your search phrase and you should wind up with plenty of information about it....
So......I knew it had nothing to do with lug nut caps as I have 20 inch custom rims with solid lug nuts. I certainly appreciate the response regarding those.
Though bearings seem to be typically a lower sounding noise....turned out to be a blown driver's side rear bearing. Replaced and everything is fine.
