Default The hunt for a bluetooth module (aka BTUM)

Good day s-type owners! As this part crosses over into your model as well, I was hoping to recruit some assistance from you as well.

In my pursuit of retro-fitting the OEM phone and bluetooth into my new XJ acquisition, I was misled by jaguarparts.com (a subsidiary of Jaguar Cleveland) when I purchsed some accessories from them, including a bluetooth module for $212. Well, needless to say, they didn't raise their prices like all other OEM parts, and gave me a 'backorder' excuse as to not complete my order. The part IS, in fact, available, but between $800 and $950 based on my two available dealer sources (JPAM, a sponsor, and Hennessey, formerly Nalley).

What I ask is that if anyone can find me a bluetooth module for < $350, and I buy it, I offer a finder's fee of $50. I've already exhausted my available sources for a salvage unit. I am fortunate to enlist the help of our fellow member GGG, who resides in the UK, to look in that region as well.

If anyone has one, knows of one, or sees one, please let me know ASAP. I have all the other parts I need (PSE, mic, wiring harness), but it is all useless w/o a BTUM.

I hope one of you has some luck! I have paypal funds for instant transfer of funds.

Part numbers are as follows: C2C 39062, or 2W93-14b409-##
The ## can be anything, though I doubt there are many variations (AD is all I could find).

Hey Matt,

I've got an AB module if you want to give that a try. I'll try to ship it put tomorrow for $175 if that's kosh.

Cheers,

Steve, you da man! However, I must pass. A forum member who lives just east of me offered me his and I accepted, although a bit higher price. I'm going to keep my commitment to purchase his, cuz that's the way I roll.

Being 'posted' here though, I am sure some other BT seeker will take you up on your offer in a heartbeat.

As for me, my search has ended. (big sigh of relief)

Cheers,
I realize this is an old post but I was wondering if you know of a pdf with the instructions for adding bluetooth to an XK8/XKR like the one you have attached here for the XJ?

Be sure to closely follow the notes based on your circumstances. It jumps around a bit.

Good luck!

Default Phone book additions

I managed to round up all the components and get them installed. Everything works fine and it connects to my phone; however, the phone refuse to cooperate as far as transferring the phone book entries.

Does anyone know if it's possible to store phone numbers into the car's system manually? I hunted through the 45 pages or so of the Jaguar phone manual and didn't see any way to do it.

Unfortunately, what you got is probably all you're gonna get. You are in a situation where more than likely your phone didn't even exist at the time this integrated phone was current. Bluetooth is supposed to be a 'standard', but full compatibility was hit and miss back then. Still is to some extent; though it's way better than 2003. That is why for the new cars, there is a web site to check for phone compatibility based on VIN number.

Cheers,

I figured as much. The bluetooth module is from 2007 so it's not quite as antiquated as the car is. The phone I'm using for the car is a basic cheapo dumb phone.

I might just go by the phone store and see if they'll let me try to pair some phones until I find one that works.

Thanks again for your help.

Default Latest update

I found a way to manually get the phone contacts into the system. Most phones have a way to share contacts via Bluetooth. It's generally buried deep in a menu somewhere but persistence pays off.

On my particularly dopey phone, they have to be sent one at a time but it does work.

On the plus side, it allows you to easily add a new contact without having to go through the unpairing/pairing process.

Question here.... I have all the wiring and harness for bluetooth in my 2005 x-type 3.0.. Now, the ? is.... I have no module hooked up to it.. I found a module for my car. Can I hook it up?? Do I have to disable the battery?? And just because I found the wiring and harness in my trunk area does that mean I can "easily" hook it up?? Thank You..

I'm not familiar with the X-Type but on an XK, yes, it's pretty easy to hook it up. You need at least the phone module, Bluetooth module, and a microphone. On an XK, there is an additional harness and a couple of brackets needed. You can check the EPC to see what you need.

I simply plugged it in without disconnecting the battery though the instructions do say you should. If you have a new phone module, you might have to have Jaguar activate it at the dealer.
