According to my owners manual for a 2003 3.0 S type sport, there is a temperature sensor behind the plastic grill just above the ignition key, and there is a solar sensor in the middle of the dash at the base of the windshield. This plastic grill pots out easily. I have read to there is also a sensor just above the accelerator pedal that is attached to a HVAC control box but have not been able to find this sensor, although I have not taken apart the dash. I cleaned both sensors with mass air flow sensor cleaner which is suppose to not attack plastics. I was having a problem of inconsistent heating and cooling, and this cleaning seems to have fixed the problem. I also pulled the fuses for the HVAC system and disconnected the battery for a bit, and this may have served as a "reset" of the HVAC.

I found the sensor near the pedal, in the evap box ni clue how to remove it. Is the solar sensor hvac related or is it for the auto headlights?

I found the reference to the solar sensor on the dash in the climate control section of the owners manual, so assume that it is related to climate control.

A faulty DCCV right out of the box, huh? Sure hope your chosen source replaced it for you at no cost and apologized for your inconvenience....

There was mention of factory navigation on here....what if the car HAD navigation but all was since taken out? Is there another module or something that has to be added in place of what was taken out? I ask this because my heat doesn't seem hot enough either.

Thanks for posting back!! That's the first new DCCV that was bad out of the box. I wonder if any of the factory techs have seen this? My DCCV just started seeping and I will be replacing it in a couple of weeks. Hope I don't get a bad one from Jaguar!!

Yea it's all fixed under the shops warranty. It was really cold here so I had the idea of unplugging the dccv which according to the forum should give me full heat and I got zilch. So I took it back to the shop. Had them order a new one after raising a little hell. And it was replaced. Could it be possible he took a cheap way out and got a rebuilt one?

I don't think a rebuilt DCCV is available but with all the failures on many different cars it would seem like a good idea!!
