Default Ignition Coil Bolt/Screw Help Needed

I was wanting to check my coils/spark plugs on the driver's side of the car 2005 S-type 3.0.
When attempting to take the bolt/screw off the middle coil, then head snapped off with almost no pressure being applied- leaving a stub sticking up about a 1/3 inch. I tried to use vice grips and several other tools to remove it, but no luck. The coil opening for the bolt/screw fits over and the stub goes about halfway in the coil bolt opening. While the coil sits snugly with its spring (These are NGK coils). I did not trust that on typical rough Dallas roads.
As a workaround, I just took a small ball of steel epoxy and covered the stud and fitted the coil. Everything seems to be holding quite fine. However, even though I am looking at a Jag to buy, I may keep this car. I have a new valve cover I got on a deal. Where would I get a replacement bolt and does anyone know the size? I saw there were some coil bolt/screws that fit a 4.2 F type but have no idea if they would fit the 05 S-types. I find part numbers aj88474 and aj85385 that might be a fit, but know not. There is always the junk yard route, but that can be a crap shoot sometimes.

These situations are so much fun. (not)!!

Any ideas, help or suggestions are welcomed

Thanks

Tom in Dallas 05-Stype 3.0

Hey Tom, how's it going?

The easiest thing I can think of on getting the right bolt would be to take one out and take it down to the hardware store and match it. I think you will be fine with the epoxy on the broken bolt. Sounds like your car still has some life to give to you. just in case. I think NOMA auto parts is a wrecking yard fairly close to you.

Thanks Scott.

There is a guy in Irving that has one of the largest Jag only yards around. I guess I can check with him.
It is like a toy store for Jag owners.

Take care

Tom

I think this is the first time I have read about a bolt breaking that holds the coil in. It's usually the insert that strips out inside the cam covers. just your luck huh? I think you said you have ordered a new cam cover. Is that right. I bet when you pull the old cam cover off you can get that broken. Bolt out easy.

Getting it out won't be an issue then. It can just be pitched. I am looking for a replacement for the new valve cover. The coil currently in- is not going anywhere.

Thanks

I have gotten a lot of stuff from these guys over the years they're similar to Granger, but they're more hardware and hard to find stuff oriented. I always say if they don't have it you don't need it or they don't make it. if it's anything to do with hardware or machine shop stuff they are the go to

picture? Have you tried welding a small nut to the broken off bit of bolt? The heat generated by the welding will help a lot.

No, as I do not know how to weld or that type of equipment. It is held nicely in place with the steel epoxy now.

But thanks for the thought and idea.
