Interior and Sunroof Problems
My 2000 4.0 S-Type is getting a bit worn inside, and now the dreaded drooping headliner thing started over the left rear passenger seat. Ugh. Has anyone had their headliner replaced in one before, and if so, what did you pay? Can anyone recommend any middle TN shops that can do the work?
Also, my sunroof is broken. Right now its stuck in the tilted UP position, but at least its closed. I don't seem to have had any water get in, miraculously in spite of some strong storms. Guess my driveway is just the right slant. What am I up against getting a sunroof fixed? The motor still works fine, but some parts have broken and come off, like a thin wire bar, etc. Who fixes these? Its not an auto body repair shop, checked there. They won't touch them.
Has anyone here ever had their interior overhauled, as in reupholstered seats and carpets? Any idea on the costs? Things to watch out for (like problems with heated seats during the process), or changing from leather to faux leather experiences, etc? I love my car, its got 158k miles and still runs like a champ, and most importantly, its paid for 100%!
The exterior is still in pretty good shape, no dents or major flaws.

Most quality car dealerships have good trim mechanics, if you can afford their ridiculous labor rates.
Alternatives: Auto Trim of Nashville @ 606 Fesslers Lane.
Auto Modification @ 207 Riverhills Drive 37210.
Cole Bros. Auto Trim at 326 Old Hickory Blvd. in Madison.
You can also Google "auto upholsterers" that fix headliners. One is Cannonballs in West Nashville.

Interior and Sunroof Problems
Jaguar dealer wanted $2000 to replace my 2005 S-Type sunroof mechanism entirely. I took it to a local reputable sunroof and trim shop (here in Denver, Co) who replaced the entire mechanism hardware kit and put everything back in perfect working order for $750-parts and labor. They ordered the parts from a nationally advertised (on Google) sunroof parts retailer which I had also seen myself online when doing my initial search. Sunroof shop told me the new parts were the same as used on a 2005 Ford F Series truck sunroof after they cross-referenced the original factory parts numbers. There are always less expensive good local alternatives to the Jaguar dealership service shop.
I also needed my headliner replaced on this same S-Type as the original factory adhesive was failing badly causing the fabric to sag. I found another local auto upholstery shop who quoted me $700 to replace the original factory liner. They knocked it out in half a day and it looks as good as the original and they guaranteed their work. The Jaguar Dealer had quoted me $2,500 for this job. Once again look local for reputable specialists shops before paying the inflated Jaguar Dealer prices.

Nash,
I have a 2000 like yours. Headliner was the first item fixed. Cost was $280. You can reset the sunroof and try that. The instructions are here on the forum somewhere. Front seats are about $400 each and $300 for the rear in leather. However, you may be able to recondition them or a lot less. I did all my seats for about $100. If you look in my album you can see how it looks. I'll be happy to answer any questions about it if you need that.
