Jag won't start
Put in new battery. Car started good for a week, then drove it last weekend for 70 miles, stopped at a store, restarted car, drove a block and shut it off. About ten minutes later, turned key and it just clicks. Starter did not turn. Checked battery, it's fully charged so that rules out alternator. Changed battery ground cable and still just get a click sound.
It just developed an antifreeze drip from the resevour. Could antifreeze be shorting or causing an eclectical problem at the starter/solinoid?

1. Before installing any new batteries I always put them on charge for at least 12, preferably 24hrs, then leave them to rest for at least one hour. That way you KNOW the battery is as good as it can be.
2. First thing in the morning before firing up the car, Disconnect your current battery and check the volts across the + & - terminals - if it's less than 12.5volts your battery is down and needs charging. see 1. above.
3. With the battery fully charged, reinstall and test-run the car. There may a need to re-set the Parking brake and re-input the radio code. The one-touch feature for the windows needs re-setting as well but that is dead easy. Just press and hold each window 'UP' button for 2 secs until you hear a soft click, then you're done.
4. Now use the car and go for a drive - all is well?
5. Over the following few days, continually check the voltage on the battery with the vehicle at rest. To do this accurately you need to remove the battery neg lead and leave for 30 mins to allow the battery to settle.
You may find that the battery voltage gradually reduces over the following 2-3 days; this indicates a drain fault, which is not uncommon and IS very annoying. Difficult to track down, but don't worry about that until it has been established that you have a drain problem.
Good luck
Dave
