Jaguar s type 2.7
Hi all, hope all is well :~)
I bought a 2005 Jaguar S type 2 weeks ago as a none runner
It has 80000 miles and a full jag service history.
The car had no power it felt like it was in limp mode.
You could hear the n/s turbo had a slight worn bearing noise when you back off the throttle.
The DPF filter was blocked/When you put your hand over both exhuasts there was hardly any pressure there.
So i heated the DPF and put the car on ramps , loads of grey ash came out of the back when i reved it
BUT about 20 mins later all of a sudden there was a tapping noise from the right-bank cam area. It started then stopped and then came back. I check the oil and that was 3/4 between min &max
So i check the filter and found some very small shiney bits of metal and the oil had a shiney gleam to it.
I was thinking could this be a result of turbo bearings going?
When i drained the engine oil it was black and looked ok.
I wanted to get the sump off so i could have a look at the big/little-end bearings but when i unbolted the sump i could not remove it as the oil pickup is stopping it. There is so little space as the crossmember/subframe gets in the way. Does anyone have any ideas?
All the best and take care Marc
