You should change all of them at the same time. If not it will cause a chain reaction. Just from my experience.

Wink coil pack

I also have a 2000 model 4.0ltr V8. when I first got my car I had to change 2 of the 8 coil packs and not had a problem since that was 8 months ago

I also recommend changing all 8 coils and plugs at once. You can get the coils for a very reasonable price on EBay. Remember they are the same as the Lincoln LS coils. Also when you changed the coils were any of the rubber boots wet with oil or other liquid? It is very likely on a 2000 model that you will need to change the cam/valve cover gaskets because of leaks. Be sure and replace the plug well seals at this time. They should all come in the same gasket kit.
