Default Jaguar S-type in limp mode

Dear Jag enthusiasts,

I have a 2005,2.5 S-type and it's been in limp mode with a check engine light ever since we got her. I checked the codes with my chepo OBD2 scanner and they are as follows;

P0102 - I did some tests on the MAF sensor and determined I will have to have it replaced. I guess a DENSO Air Mass Sensor for 80£ will do the trick but I'm open to suggestions.

P0445 - Evap issue, currently figuring out what needs to be done about this.

P1532 - No idea.

P1549 - No idea.

I am based in Middlesex and I have a little knowledge of automobile and along with the internet I am trying to resolve these Issues. If anyone of you is located in the area and could assist me with any of this I would highly appreciate it, as well If someone could recommend a mechanic I would greatly appreciate it as I don't have a lot of tools or a work space. My car is currently parked on the street and I am trying to do my best.

Thanks

Use the Jaguar-specific DTC definitions to avoid making an incorrect diagnosis. The list of DTCs is in the 'stickies' section on the X200 forum.

Prior to going further with any diagnosis, check the voltage across the battery terminals with a voltmeter. There should be a minimum of 12.6 volts present, if not, charge the battery for five hours at 2 to 5 amps and perform a retest. If the voltmeter still indicates less than 12.6 volts, replace the battery. A failing or weak battery can cause random DTCs and instrument cluster warnings.

If a new battery is required, make sure it's fully charged as they can discharge whilst being stored on a shelf at a parts house.

As mentioned above check the battery voltage and condition before you do anything.

However……….

P1532 is an issue with the lower Intake Manifold Tuning (IMT) Valve.

P1549 is an issue with the upper Intake Manifold Tuning (IMT) Valve.

There are two intake manifold tuning (IMT) valves, an upper and a lower, sometimes referred to as number one and two respectively. They are a two position (open and close) device used to create a variable air intake system. The IMT valve positions are switched by signals from the ECM to optimize torque across the engine's speed and load range. On vehicles fitted with a 2.5L engine the upper IMT valve opens between 4,500 and 6,400 rpm while the lower IMT valve opens between 3,700 and 6,400 rpm.

You can look this info. up yourself in the official workshop manual, but for P1532 you need pinpoint test V on page 1856 and for P1549 you need pinpoint test U on page 1855.
However you need to have a good look around for damaged or disconected wires in the area first.

Thanks for the reply. I will check the stickies section on the X200 forum.
It's definitely not the battery as we have put a new one in and taken it for a long drive over this long weekend to the lake district and back to London, the issues still persist.

Thanks for the suggestions. Hopefully this weekend I can look it up. I'm going to look up the manual now. Thanks again.
