Default S-type Limp mode

Hi Guys, just a quick question. My mechanic has had my s-type for 6 weeks now trying to diagnose this limp mode problem. He says it pointing back to the ABS module connector pins. He has finally tracked some down from a scrapyard. However I do have a question. Obviously I have gone to this garage via recommendation from my regular mechanic who could not resolve the issue. A chap at work said I should have brought it straight to Jag main dealer. Although more expensive, maybe I would have got a quick diagnosis and resolution. Do you think that would have been the better option? Only asking as new to jags. My one is 12 year old, 3L V6 sport petrol. Regards Mannix

Is this the car that had a strangely high idle & P1229?

What was done to fix P1229?

I really doubt limp mode occurs due to an ABS fault (if there actually is one).
