Hi folks,

I have a 2004 Jaguar S-Type 2.5V6 SE Auto which has power folding wing mirrors.

Unfortunately the passenger side one has now broken and is in need of replacing.

I'm not overly bothered about replacing it with like for like. Therefore I was wondering if a non power folding wing mirror would function before I purchase one.

Obviously I know the power folding element would be missing, but would the glass move as normal from the switch??

It should but I think your big problem is the two different mirrors will require different plugs. So you would need to cut the plug off the wire harness when you got the new one from the junk yard. Then you would need to tie off the wires for the power fold when you rewired your cars wire harness.

You are in the UK so folding mirrors are a common option. Wouldn't it be better to just get the correct used mirror?

Thanks for replying. You're probably correct in replacing like for like. Power folding mirrors are more expensive over here and not quite as common as you think to purchase second hand (in my searches anyway). Plenty of them around for older models, just not so many for mine...
