jerking of the gears when driving and various lights

I have a 2005 S-Type 3.0 and after my husband back into a garbage can 6 days after purchase, broke the tail light. I ordered a brand new one on E-Bay for about $100. Fits perfect. The only problem I have is the problem most people complain about which is the jerking of the gears when driving and various lights being currently displayed. From the posts I have read, it appears everyone recommends changing the battery. I bought it when it had 1.000 miles, now at age 10 yrs has 41,000. Any suggestions for me are much appreciated.

I suggest you start a new thread outlining the specific problems you're having. Tagging on to someone else's thread having a different problem will usually get overlooked.

I believe the jerking of the gears is covered on earlier forum posts. I do not have your model and have no first hand experience in this area at all. However, I can provide some links to arm you with information.

There is discussion of a lurch in the transmission and I believe many recommend changing the transmission oil.

This last link discusses the transmission lurch. But if you search for "Lurch" or any other simple term something useful will turn up.
