Post KeyFob reprogram how to:

Hi everyone,

Thought I would share this bit of information I came across:

I have just bought a 2004 Jaguar STR this year and previous driver had spilled something very sticky on the key fobs to the point where the buttons no longer worked. The transponder worked fine so the car still started but the remote for the doors and such did not. After opening and cleaning the fob with alcohol plus replacing the battery I was ready to reprogram the remote section.

I read all that I could find on this subject here, and tried the procedures listed in the S Type Sticky page with no success. I was almost about to concede that the dealer level software was needed to reprogram the remote transmitter button part, as many people have stated. This did make sense to me why the S type needed the dealer tool but not the other models

Then I came across this PDF which worked "SEE THE LAST PAGE" and didn't see it posted here so...
the last one worked for me: us model S Type
hope this helps and save others some time and money.

This has all the modern car procedures but posted here for lack of better location.

Thanks and good luck
