launching issue Please help!
Ok guys, I took my just purchased 03 s type R to the drag strip, and before making it there a friend in his 99 z28 decided to race, we stopped and when I put my foot on the brake and pressed the gas to build rpm for a good launch, it was like a rev limiter was kicking in at only 1500 rpm, sport mode was on traction was off, so I tried just a dead dig, no tire spin nothing and it fell on its face and then slowly took off and built speed, normal driving no issues taking off, rolling starts I have no issues, just happens when I try to power brake her and when stopped and put the pedal to the floor. No lights come on, no codes are showing, I dont knowwhat t issue could be, any and all help is greatly appreciated thanks guy!!!
I am not the best drag racer but we do have several guys who are quite good. Search for things like track, race, etc. Lots of good advice on how to get the STR down the track!
The STR does not ever turn off the nanny stuff completely. Even when you have the stability control switched off. So power braking or just flooring it will cause the traction control and ABS to kick in. If you roll into it you will have a better launch. So let the car just start to move before you nail it.
The STR is not great at burn outs or launching so more practice is in order.

I've been to the track a few times and haven't power-braked it once. You get too much wheelspin even if you push too hard on the gas. It shouldn't fall on its face though, is it all stock? The only thing that would come to my mind is the intake tract closing off due to a high vac condition when you get on it.
That seems unusual to me. I have taken my STR to the drag strip a few times. I always brake and rev it to 1,500 RPMs and dump it when its time to go. Never had the issues you speak of. I like bumping up the RPMs a little bit to make sure some of the torque is there from the start but not so high that I spin all the way down the track.
