Default leaper removal

Hey everyone, first time poster here so bare with me.
On my 2000 S-type, I want to remove the spring loaded leaper to replace with a 1926 Franklin lion (don't ask). How do I remove? And if I can't get the lion on and look right, can I easily get the leaper on without buying a new cable or anything?

there is a nut underneath the bonnet/hood and some double sided tape under the base of the leaper, so to refit would mean re cutting some double sided tape and sicking it down strait . don't just pull the cat off! you need to pries up the base footing

The cat comes off without the base too. It is spring clipped on. The nylon nut is about 22-24mm that holds the base. rather large. Do you have a photo of the new lion? Interested to see it.

Google search reveals:

Leapers are a hot item stolen off Jaguars. I believe this would be as well.
