2009 XKR tail light problem...running lights work, break light not working

Hey all. 2009 XKR Portfolio convertible. Left rear tail running lights work but the break light is out. Sensor is flashing on the dashboard out. Bought a new OEM bulb that works for the running lights only, but didn't fix the break problem. The bulb is 'hot' and dark on one side which is telling me I think I have a wiring issue. Is it possible to just replace the bulb outlet or do I need a whole new harness? Could this be a grounding issue? All the other lights are working fine. New to this...many thanks in advance.
