Mechanical issues with my 05 STR other than the brake dust- NONE. Supercharged - a little hungrier for gas, you got to feed the 400 horses under there (ave. 25 mpg HW & 15 city, Los Angeles & surrounding areas). Tranny - as far as I know, same one used in the 7 series BMW. It's the 6 speed that keeps your mpg in check. For me, you get more bang for the buck than the E350, E500 & 530i. Interior - NOTHING else comes close. I have the green one - definite neck-snapper for both driver & on-looker.

ORIGINAL: StereoTYPE R

Mechanical issues with my 05 STR other than the brake dust- NONE.
I purchased a set of Akebono Ceramic pads for the front and rear and I no longer have to worry about the brake dust.

i avg about 27 highway and 18-20 city depending which city im in. and as mentioned the trans is from the 745i and then used in many other cars. its a ZF sourced unit, of course programed for the R. mine had a couple of major warranty trips to the dealer when i first got it...being a picky car guy i notice little things that the previous owner didnt notice...after that its had no major issues overall and been very reliable!
