Loose Brake Pads ???
Hi All,
I brought my car 2005 S-Type 4.2 to 2 mechanics and they cant figure out why my pads become loose and "Cling" loudly everytime I hit bump (Front pads only). I just installed new pads (Mavis put them in) and in a week or so I am the nosiest car that hits small bumps
"When I hit the brakes the it doesnt make loud clings"
Any Ideas? Could I be missing a bracket that holds them in place? Ive searched this forum and found nothing
Thank You

Are the pads the proper shape and size? Some incorrectly-sized pads can be forced into place by lazy or unscrupulous techs and they are usually noisy right off the bat....
Have your caliper bolts been properly torqued after the pad replacement? Loose bolts will cause brake noise as well....
Were all of the brake components properly cleaned before the new pads were installed? Caked-up brake dust and road grime can also cause excessive noise. So can warped rotors....
Lots to check here. A good brake tech would have already checked these items....

There's stamped steel plates that clip to the back of the front brake pads. Their sole purpose is the stop the rattle you're experiencing. I don't think they're sold separately from the pads though.
