Just noticed tonight after a short drive a loose part on the underneath of my car. The photos are taken underneath the car looking towards the front 2 wheels.
What is this? My car is a 2005 S-type v6 3.0L.
Is it a major part to fix? It seems that it is just a matter of putting the car up on a hoist (i have no hoist and am not a car mechanic) and putting a new screw in.
It's a plastic splash shield/under tray also referred as a belly pan too. Helps with aerodynamics, road noise and keeps engine compartment clean. A couple bolts and nuts will secure it. Sorry I cannot recall fastener sizing off the top of my head.
5 M6 X 25mm hex cap screws, 2 M6 wshrhd nuts and 2 wshrhd sheet metal screws.
Or, finish taking it off and sell it to me for cheap! (just fielded a call from the firstborn in LA that she was at a service station where her sorority sister's husband was completing the belly-pan removal initiated out on the interstate whilst passing a truck. Says didn't see a thing but probably hit a tire-tread. Says no runs, leaks, nor drips, so should be ok. She's coming home today....I'm dubious there'll be much left in the way of fixing points...)
