Got 1 set of keys with 2005 STR. Car parked in garage but after 3 weeks of looking went to dealership with title and drivers license. They say they can get them but the cost for 2 is $1200. 00 not including programing FOBs.!!! Still have my S type 4.2 but want to go fast. Any cheeper ways to go? I hate to be a penny pincher but really? Any ideas? Please help!

 

Do you have a choice of dealers perhaps?

Otherwise, if you can get the codes only, then maybe a locksmith would be cheaper as long as he can do the required programming.

 

Buy new uncut key on ebay and after that go to your dealer and they will cut and will do programming for around $130... At least they charged me this amount for 1 key.

Another vote for EBay keys.

And please!! Get two keys. You know you need them!

I would also get the keys off Ebay. The dealer near me was nice enough to cut and program the key free of charge when I went in for other non-key related Select Edition repair.

Please note that some dealers may refuse to program outside keys. I had the same problem when I brought in a key to a local Volvo dealer to program for my Volvo.
