Default Another Window Regulator thread

Hi all,

As the header suggest I'm in need of a little help. Yesterday I went to go pick up my mother from work. I drove there with the windows down soaking up the warm rays of Vegas sun. I arrived at her work, turned the ac on and rolled up the windows...all of them went up except my driver window. I tried again thinking I missed the button, but all I heard was a click.

So, upon googling this problem I found this very helpful guide to replacing the regulator JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource
I basically have zero knowledge about cars, but it seemed easy enough for me to do so I don't have to take it into the shop (full time college student tight budget).

My problem is I can't get to the A bolts to loosen, because my window is blocking it (window is all the way down inside the door)...I tried pushing the window up through both big holes (oval shape/speaker) and it doesn't budge. Any advice would be appreciated!
And I apologize in advance because I'm sure some of you see this question 1000x's and are tired of answering it.

If your replacing the regulator & motor together (which I hope you are) - go inside the door frame and trace the two black lines traveling from the window motor - with a set of aviation snips - cut through both lines (the metal guide cable is within) - this will free the regulator from the motor and allow you to pull up on the window half way to gain access to the 2 - 10MM bolts.

I have done this a few times. Usually the window is easy to pull all the way up and then tape to the frame securely. Maybe it is not completely broken. Have you tried acting like it works and make sure you have hit the button for all the way up, and not all the way down? Just a thought

What year is your Jag? Usually you get a crunchy sound when they go bad.

Hey guys thanks for the info. After sitting around puzzled for awhile I noticed that I was able to loosen the 10mm bolts that were on the silver window holders that were attached to the white clips (sorry for not knowing the correct part names). The one toward the outer door was a pain to reach down and loosen, but I got it loose. I was able to pull the window up after that and securely tape it up and pull out the regulator with the motor.

Sidenote: I joined this forum just to get help, but I think I'll stick around and see what other helpful tips I can get to keep my 00 s-type running! My headliner is pretty beat up...search bar here I come...anyways, thanks guys!

See if you can get car details in via Control Panel (see below). More ideas on common faults all need to know what you have. 00 is too terse.

As far as the headliner is concerned - you can take the car to an upholstery shop specializing in headliners - have them color match the headliner - don't worry about sourcing jaguar specific fabric - just make sure they use the thinner headliner material so it doesn't screw up your sunroof - search the forum on this... Had my entire headliner, pillars, etc done for $600 - makes a HUGE difference in appearance. Good Luck.
