Yeah, I'll second that. Show us us your nuts. ...

Seriously, if these are stainless steel and nothing looks weird about them I might buy a set too!

Dammit. My lugs came in today, but they're the two piece, exactly what I've got on the car already. Why o' why didn't I ask before I purchased if they were one or two piece. They are nice however and are brand spanking new.

I think pretty well everyone knows where their local post office is........

I've got the solid Dorman nuts on mine, so far so good. I can't help wondering if the problem with the OEM nuts is not really with the ***** lugnut wrench that is supplied with the car. I was surprised at how light weight it is and equally how easiliy it deformed the first time I attempted to loosen the nuts on a wheel. I ended up using an old crossbar wrench I've had since the 70s and never damaged another one.

Surely Jaguar must know of the field problems with the nuts?

No, the fault is not with the lug wrench. Two-piece capped lug nuts are destined to fail regardless of who makes them. I've had numerous factory sets over the years. Didn't matter who built the vehicle or made the lug nuts. If they were two-piece, they eventually failed. Some quicker than others, though....

Yup^^^^^

The cap eventually loosens up from the solid nut it is attached to. My tire shop called it "swelling"...

The Chrysler LX(Charger, Magnum, 300) folks have the same issue... I have 20 of the Dorman part for the Chrysler sitting on the work bench now.. Yet the Dodge Caravan has solid lug nuts.... Who thinks of these things....

Default Just to clarify

When you guys start talking about 2 piece nuts let's remember that even the ones WO the SS slip-over covers are two piece because the washer floats on the nut.

So maybe we should call the OEM onces three piece nuts?

Since we're splitting hairs here.. Or is that splitting nuts....

They are really 4 piece nuts.. At least mine were.. Nut, slip-over cover, metal washer backed by a nylon washer....

I have no rust on the Dorman lug nuts either? I have them on both the STR and the Lincoln. Had them 15 months or so but I don't live in a salt area. They sure look like stainless steel?

The best terminology for the lousy "two-piece" lug nuts is actually "acorn-style lug nuts". I heard a mechanic use that term back in the 1990s and it sounded right on the money to me since acorn seeds easily separate from their shells when they ripen and fall off the oak tree, much as these lousy lug nuts separate after they've been removed and reinstalled enough times. Another appropriate term is simply "capped lug nuts"....

Pep Boys has the one piece heavy chrome plated acorn style lugnut for Toyota, made by White Knight. They fit perfectly and look great. $6 for a pack of four.
$30 for the complete 4 wheel redo. You will need a new 7/8" lugwrench they sell that for less than $10, much nicer than the flimsy OEM unit.

Default My STR DOES NOT WEAR NYLONS!

I'll go look again but nylon washers? Doesn't even make sense. Who puts 80-90 ft lbs on a nylon washer and expects proper results?

OK I just checked. No Nylon washers. That must be a "drag" option ...

Hmmm... Wonder if the R has different nuts... I know it's got more *****...

Ooops... I'm gonna get banned......

Here is a picture of the factory lug nut that was on my 05 3.0. Notice the black nylon washer between the metal one and the shoulder of the lug nut...

Default NOT Acorn Lugs....

Umm, don't get Acorn style lug nuts... They are not correct.. Acorn nuts are capped (closed top) with a taper seat.. The Jaguar lug nuts are mag type / sometimes called "shoulder" or "washer seat".. Please see the chart below.

Had to be careful with the Chrysler as well. People think the 300 has standard Acorn lug nuts as well... But they use "bulge" seat lugs... Using standard can cut into the wheels.
