Default Message center issue

the other day on my way home from work I noticed that my message centers were blank but still lite up just the data wasn't there along with this I noticed that my turn signals will blink once and then stay on and that if I toggle from high beam to low beam and vice versa there seems like a 10 second delay before the switch over. Has any one had this issue and what was the cure or can shed some info as what to check or look for. Thanks

I don't think so but if you study the workshop manual you might find what's in common, if anything, or at least follow its tests.

Check grounds had similar issue Werth message center lighting progressively got worse then headlights started to act up. Turns out the ground from battery cable at the body was loose.

Thanks Blackkat. I checked these out everything is good solid ground to body and had battery tested all good there also 13. 86 volts. have noticed now my headlights do not turn on anymore. don't have any ide other than from schematics looks like common denominator is the instrument cluster it self which is in turn a module on its own out of numerous modules in the car. about ready to shove rag in the gas tank light it up and walk away and watch the fire works with all the things I have had to do to the car since I have had it. Just seems every time I get one thing fixed a month later some thing new creeps up to bite me in the ***. LOL

I'm guessing that battery voltage of 13.86V is with engine running. A such, this is relatively meaningless as to battery condition, other than reassuring you that the alternator charge function is working. We need the standing voltage measured (by DVM) before first start in morning . . . and 12.6V is the minimum. Beyond this, a full battery pro test will give you the CCA. Suggest you read "Battery 101 for S-Types" in the Sticky "How to . . . " and re-test.

Then, start researching forum for issues like leaking boot /trunk that may have water corrosion around the battery and power distribution connections. Ground fixings and wiring connectors are known areas to be checked for looseness, corrosion etc.

Best wishes,

Ken
