Does anyone know of anything to clear my headlites without buying new ones . I can't stand them any longer 2000 s type Thanks

Thanks for the thread, I have already tried the polish, but mine are so far gone it didn't work. I put some silicone spray on & that cleared them for about a day.Maybe I'll try to spray them with a clear hi gloss plastic paint .I don't know, but I don't have anything to loose Thanks again

 

goto the exterior detail section of jaguarforums there are quite afew threads about headlamp detailing. I personally would not clear paint them until they are buffed out. I have used the 3m headlamp cleaning kit and it has made our headlamps clear as new. The product is available at any big box autoparts store.

If there really bad you may want to start with some 600 grit sandpaper and then go to about 1200 or 1500 grit before polishing and buffing them. Then I would go for some of the clear plastic ( almost like a thick food wrap ) headlight protectors.

 

I use some stuff called 3M Perfect-It II. It is a liquid rubbing compound. But it works wonders on headlights and whatnot. I will admit that it takes a little bit of elbow grease to clear up some of the more badly scratched headlights, but it does work. I use it periodically on my Jag. The other nice thing about this product is that it is also good for chrome, glass, and even paint. It is a all-for-one product. I use a cotton cloth to apply and remove the product. The only problem with the product is that it is a little bit difficult to find. BUt, if you go to a store that sells automotive paint by the quart/gallon (ie, not your local auto parts store), they normally carry it. I think they have upgraded the formula and they are now calling it Perfect-It III. I swear by the stuff.

 

Thanks for the threads ytube is great! when I tried to polish mine with the, I think it was Mequiars head lite polish it only had a polishing cleaner & polish "no sanding"& I had no luck @ all I cleaned & polished for about an hour with the little drill tip that came in there kit. but after seeing the detailing & sanding on youtube I think when it warms up again I'll try the sanding method then polish.
