I have noticed on my 2002 S-type (4.2lts) that the firewall sound cover is missing along the drivers side from the brake master cylinder until it meets the passenger side just above the left hand side valley of the engine. Does anyone know where this can be purchased as it does not seem to be in the JEPC as a part? Perhaps a wreckers item?

I am in Australia, as when I ask for available brake pads for my car, most parts shops seem to ask is it pre June 02 or post June without reference to the VIN number ranges? As my car is the 4.2lts S-Type 2002, I suspect my answer is the post June 2002? Does anybody know? I also suspect taht this is different if I order part across the internet as the release of the car was probably different in most countries. Therefore, I guess the use of the VIN is the only way to avoid incorrect parts?

Any comments would be greater appreciated.

Yours will count as post-June. It's "officially" 2002.5MY and starts with VIN M45255. Apart perhaps from pre-production cars (if any), all 4.2s are 2002.5MY or later. (2003 in USA I think.)

A wrecker sounds the best bet.
