Default Moonroof on 2003 S-Type

Has anybody else seen this or have this problem? When viewed from the exterior, the moonroof is depressed on the rear-left edge. It doesn't leak on the inside of the car. When I poured water on the roof, the track catches the water and it drains out the back like it should. Does anybody know why the glass is pushed down? Is it a track issue? Clip? I can't see anything when I look, any ideas?

How far in is it? I notice that mine sits ever so slightly depressed in the left rear corner as well. I thought it was normal since it seems to seal properly.. Interested in what others say about this...

Mine was doing that also. It eventually got pretty bad by sitting declined on both rear sides. It never leaked, but I use some plastic clips to prop it up. I just pull them out when I want to use the sunroof. Kind of guetto I know, but since it wasn't leaking, and working property. I didn't see the need in taking to a dealer. yet..

It's not depressed very much, but enough so that when I pour a glass of water on the roof, it runs down the track on that side, but not on the other side, maybe 1/4". It just looks crappy, like it's not seated right. It being a Jag, I'm sure the cost of having somebody look at it would be ridiculous.

The glass is held with a torx size 15 on each inside corner. Gain access to the side thats low from the inside of the car, loosen the torx screw and lift up the glass flush and tighten screw. You should then be even.

Ok, when I'm in the car, the headliner doesn't retract far enough, I don't think; is the screw on the roof, or side? Sorry for being a dummy.

Ok, you may have a black cover that you need to pop off before you can see the screws, but you are able to access them without moving the headliner or anything.

The amount that the roof is depressed you may need to undo a couple of the screws to get the adjustment you need.

I'm looking at this scratching my head. The headliner panel doesn't slide back far enough for me to do/see anything. With the headliner closed the interior is ALL headliner. How can it not be moved to get at the moonroof? I'm not a blonde, by the way. Does anybody know if the roof is glass or plastic?

The roof panel is glass. The part of the headliner that covers the sunroof is referred to as the sun shade. That panel should slide back manually while the sunroof is closed. If that is "stuck" closed along with the "dip" in the sunroof I would think it is a deeper issue and may need to be taken to a shop. If you can get the sun shade slid back, you should see the screws that are being talked about.

The sunshade slides back fine, all except for a couple of inches, so you guys are probably right, it isn't sliding back far enough so there is apparently something preventing it. Thanks for the help.

Woa! That is normal. It will retract all the way when the sunroof is opened. With the roof closed there will be a few inches showing. So, with the sunshade open you still don't see the screws? Maybe JaguarSPD could post a picture or two? If not, I'll try to dig into mine and take a picture, but that probably won't be until Sunday, when she gets her bath.

Attached is a photo of the rear of the sunrooof, glass panel closed, sunshade opened as far as it will go. No screw heads are visible/accessible. What should I be looking at?

Ok, let me get a pic later, but your not quite looking in the right area.. You need to get your head up to the moonroof and look along the outside edges of the moonroof from inside, there is a rubber accordian looking deflector that you need to pop off. Then look between the headliner and the glass roof along the outside (above the oh crap handles) on each corner, there are the screws.

This photo is from a 2000 S, but its the same location. This one just has a black strip instead of the accordian type which you have. You can see the rearmost screw to the right, and the front screw is covered by the black plastic to the left.
