mpg
hi ppl ive got an 04 plate s-type 2.7d v6 sport, iv noticed over the last month, my mpg has gone down from 28.1 to 27.1, I haven't changed my style of driving, haven't got a heavy right foot, its not in sport mode, any ideas what that's all about??
If you are in States, many refineries are switching over to winter mix gasoline. This is more volatile petroleum mix which tends to slightly lessen your efficiency. I wouldn't worry over 1mpg.
My summer composite is 25mpg. Best long distance trip was 30mpg. Winter worst was 23mpg. This in US gallons and using 91 - 93 AKI octane fuel.

I was hoping to get more like 27 mpg ,I only travel 7 miles to work and back and it's all a roads ,and its winter time ,but I would have liked a few more miles to the gallon to be honest .
I got just shy of 6 mpg on the road course. Good thing I packed an extra 10 gallons or I wouldn't have been able to get home!

Could not afford to run that car here in the uk ,we pay a lot more for a fuel in case you didn't know
They're only like that if you have a very heavy foot. You'll get 24mpg-ish on a decent run. (More on the mway but unless you live on one...)
I get 18 MPG on my str, and i really dont have a heavy foot, i actually regularly coast to a red light rather then accelerating all the way to it like most people here in FL. Caldoffy intake elbow and K&N intake filter are the only mods so its pretty stock.
17 mp(US)g around town, 23-ish on the highway.
Although when I bought the car and had to drive over 200mi to get it home, I zeroed the info center before starting and at a steady 65 mph the mileage report was 30 mpg!!!
Have never come close to that since. But I did confirm with fill-ups before/after.
The stars and planets must have been in alignment on that one day.

You dreamed of big star, he played a mean guitar...
He loved to drive his Jaguar
So welcome to the machine

I've only driven it on a road course twice; I typically get much better mileage when not racing.
But back to our OP ... greetings Craig ...
Unless I came in the wrong door, you are asking about the 2.7 Twin Turbo Diesel? Manual? Or ZF 6speed auto? In my experience, 27-28 mpg would suggest a fairly large urban component because open highway driving at steady 120-130kph (70-80mph) should return more like high 40s in mpg. The story around town turns sad however, perhaps low teens in mpg - hence your fairly poor averages.
Also, I'm guessing you hail from Birmingham UK. Why? Because you can count the number of these V6 TTDs in USA on the thumbs of both hands ... or less!
BTW, sounds like a choice car.
Cheers.

I did note your first, then second reply that you posted quoting other, earlier contributors with the same reply ... I am not sure that, in my case, you are correct - perhaps you are - but in any event, I don't see the relevance to your attaching it to a quote of my post. My post was constructed to offer our OP, Craig, some analysis of his fuel consumption figures based on many members feedback and my personal experience.
Are you raising a point of order; a point of honour; or a complaint? Perhaps if you explain it further, I could better understand and reply.
Cheers.

My mistake cat as trophy ,when you put "I'm guessing your from birmingham " in your post I thought you was meaning me ,which I am by the way .
Any way my post was meant to be tongue in cheek comment ,my apologies .

I get about 28mpg (UK) from my 4.2, mainly long journeys round the M25 etc.
