Need advice on 2000 S type?

Was up new member here............Looking at a silver 2000 S type with 90k on it, there asking 6k, they might take 5k however. How much are the repairs for this car? what do i need to look out for?

Ummm, search on the site for Transmission Valve Body, Water Leaks, Electrical Issues.... Not to scare you, but the early cars (Pre-03) can be a real headache with little stuff.. There was a good reason that Ford/Jaguar did a major update to both the LS and the S Type for 2003...

That said, if you do your homework, and aren't afraid to work on your own car, you can find some really good deals on early cars...

2000 "S" 3.0? $4000 max for a nice specimen is more like it. The dealer is asking too much for the car. IMHO you're much better off walking away from this one and deciding on a 2003 on. From here you'll have a much better engineered car. Look around for a 2003-on 4.2....300 hp @ 310 lb/ft trq. 6 speed ZF trans. Or go for an 03-on S-Type R = 400 hp @ 410 lb/ft trq. These cars are both affordable and a pleasure to drive.
