Need help locating the thermostat
Having heater problems with my 2000 s type 3.0. It blowing cold air same temperature throughout the vents. Wanted to check the thermostat to see if that is ok, also wanted to get couple of tips on how to check the coolant level. I'm a do it yourself kind a person since I can't afford to take my car to a shop.
Yours is probably enough like mine that you check coolant with cold engine, remove cap, look inside at the mark(s) and top up ONLY WITH THE STUFF THAT MEETS HANDBOOK/Jag SPEC (mine's orange, to spec WSS-M97B44-D). Spec is in Vehicle Spec PDF in one of the stickies if you can't otherwise find it. Do not under any circumstances mix in the wrong antifreeze.
Although the colour is important, the specification is even more important.
Orange coolant is OAT (Organic Acid Technology) sometimes called 'long life' coolant. However quality varies. Ensure what you buy meets the spec JagV8 quoted in #2. This spec code will appear somewhere on the container.
