I haven't asked my stupid question of the day so here it is.

I wanted to rotate my tires on the 2000 s-type jaguar (with allow wheels) and noticed that the wheel nut looks 'loose'. Is this a locking wheel nut and do I need a special tool to remove it and adapter in order to take the lug off? I checked the trunk/boot, removed the full spare and could not find any tools other than the standard tire iron.

So, what's with the wheel nut cover?

Scott:
Please do some searches. The S Type use really junky stock capped lug nuts. I would seriously consider changing them ALL out. Before you get one tore up and stuck!!

You can find part numbers and pricing on good solid replacements here on the forum.

tbird6 - Found the post by androulakis. Thanks for the hint. Will look into getting a set like these:

Replacement Solid 1 Piece Lug Nuts.

DORMAN Part # 611229

Thread M12-1.5 / Hex Size 19mm / Length 37.48mm / Seat Angle 18.4mm dia. X 7.16mm / Finish Stainless

Update : My gosh Amazon has them at $1.67 each (via auto parts 123) and at $40 for a complete set it is worth a try...

Thanks.

anyone have 1 stock lugnut I can buy. I'm selling my car and don't want to invest in a bunch of new ones.
