I have been mulling over which car to take on our annual drive from London Ontario Canada to Myrtle Beach South Carolina for our vacation. For the last 4 years I have always taken the 2004 XK8, I always look forward to top down driving through the West Virginia mountains. This year we went a few weeks later and my wife suggested she wanted to do a little Christmas shopping. That means a little more room. It is the first time I have taken the 2008 Stype 4.2 on a road trip as we, always take the XK8.
The car recently turned over 200,000 km. so I was a little nervous even though I attend to everything maintenance related. Well here we are, 16 hours of driving and all is well. We averaged 28.4 mpg. (Canadian gallons). Not as good as the 34.7 I get from the XK8 but not bad. I must be getting old because I am feeling a little less creaky driving the Stype as well. I have the car lined up for new tires, Continental Contacts on Tuesday morning, so the ride home should even be a little smoother.

Never in my life did I think I would be trying to decide which Jag to take on vacation.

I have a Z06 as my toy car.. but there is something just balanced about our 03 S-Type w/4.2L V8. It's refined in a way the vette never will be.
