Not getting 10 Liters of coolant
Hi everyone.
So a while back I had my water pump replaced. So naturally they had to do a radiator flush.
Except they put in the wrong type of coolant.
The owner's manual states that the car takes 10.4 liters of coolant. S type 3.0 V6
So I drained it once, getting about 9 or 10 liters. And then filled the radiator with water to flush out the rest. The thing is the radiator only took 5 liters to fill?!? Now I've driven the car for a day and wanted to drain all the water out.
But now I could only drain 5 liters.
The were no air locks, as the reservoir tank was still at the full line before I drained it. And the car never overheated. I did also run the heater to flush out the heater core.
Only thing I can think of is that the car wasn't warm when I flushed it the 2nd time, and that the thermostat wasn't open. But the car wasn't warm on the first flush either

You can never drain the block via the radiator. .
I’m certain You can only drain 5 L from the radiator.
to drain 10 L from the radiator the only way I would know how -
it is to hang the car from a tree by the back bumper.
To drain the remaining 5L from the block you have to remove the block drains . Or frost plugs .

I was thinking of just running the engine with the drain plug open. So that the water pump forces the rest out
You could hang the car from the back bumper using a crane.
You could hang the car from the back bumper using some sort of a block and tackle suspended from a tall building.
You could nose the car over the side of a tall bridge with a stout bungee cord attached to the rear bumper.
You could dig a pit and nose the car into it.
There are lots of other options, too. Those are just a few that came to mind while waiting for the alarm clock to go off. But you really should be careful with a statement like you made.

mixing coolants can create slush.
try testing the same coolants that were mixed in a bowl outside and see if they slush tougher, might even want to add some water and boil them for 5 mins (toxic gases will evaporate too). if they remain liquid, you can try a cooling sistem flush with distilled water. Run it for 20min, drain, do this for 3 times. After all the color is gone, drain 5 liters (radiator plug) and use CONCENTRATED correct coolant fso youll have a almost 50- 50 mixture.
Also, there are some aditives to clean the system, use them at your own risk.
I once cleaned my engine using my water hose ( disconected the radiator and pump hoses) keept filling it until everything was out), but it can leave minerals on certain components so do it at your own risk.
at least flush with distilled water.
if there is slush, it has to be eliminated.
