Default O2 Sensor obsoleted

I have a 2002 S model with the 4.0 v8 engine. The oxy sensor has been obsoleted by Jag and is misreferenced on the net and with the usual autoparts stores. This is the upstream sensor. It has 2 wires and a square connector. What is an acceptal replacement? Anything plug and play?

rockauto shows 6 upstream 02's for your car. Those are not correct?

Something ain’t right. 2002 wiring diagrams here:

http://www.jagrepair.com/images/Auto...x2032002en.pdf

See figure 03.1 for the V8. It shows all four sensors each have four wires. That’s how my ‘02 V6 is.

On each sensor, two wires are for the heating element and the other two are for the oxygen sampling.

Has your car been modified? Do you have any fault codes? I can’t imagine the computer is happy with only two wires present at the oxygen sensors.

the denso 2344046 has a round connector and 4 wires, wrong part entirely. Parts geek calls that out for a ford truck.
My car has never been modified and both upstream sensors have a square plug with 2 Yes 2 wires. The plugs have 4 pin holes but only 2 are used.
Fault code is P0153

Jag calls the part a "XR86938" and is obsolete according to our local dealer this morning.

I just looked at a bunch of the "XR86938" crosses and they have 4 wires and the wrong plug.

nevermind, they almost all look like 4 wire, but my plugs look like the square downstream plugs, not the round one.

It would help to know what part of the WORLD you are located and the MARKET trying to obtain parts for.
Jaguar has many different parts for the various markets they sell cars. Many different Countries have different emission regulations.

You might try searching for a Lincoln LS V-8 sensor of the same era, as there was a more significant commonality of parts and systems with the x200, S-type.

Am in the USA, have looked at probably 100 sensors so far, none are 2 wire with square plug. I see the plug on some downstream units but not on upstream like mine, and I dont think mine are heated as there are only 2 wires.

You might want to have a physical look at one or two of the suggested parts, as it appears that most (if not all) of the on-line vendors are using a stock pic of the part. If the pic is incorrectly cross-referenced by the manufacturer or distributor, incorrect info travels fast on the web.

what if I chose one that is what is mostly used, plumb in the data wires and eliminate the heater wires. Will the sensor still send correct data to the ecu? It is appearent that one will have to be modified in as I can find nothing that is correct plug and play either from Jag or any other cross. I can't find any upstream with the correct connector.

I'd do two things before proceeding.

1. Look at how quickly the 02's swing. Is that in spec? (does reality match the P0153 code?)
2. Physically pull one and inspect the car side connector. Look to see if its a genuine Jag connector (OEM was most likely FORD) and that something odd wasn't spliced in.
