Default Oil Cooler seal

Hello everyone...new member. Haven't got a clue how to navigate this site...or any site for that matter. When it comes to tech. Dinosaurs....i'm THE ONE.

Anyway, i have a 2005 S-Type 4.2. I need an oil cooler seal. The part listed by jaguar is the WRONG part, although they insist its the RIGHT part. My local Jag dealer has a oil cooler and the seal that comes with it looks nothing like the one Jag has listed as the individual seal.

The oil cooler itself is a $400 part. Do i really need to pay $400 just to get a seal?
Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you are talking about the ENGINE oil cooler, the part no of the O-ring seal is--JLM21003 according to the Jaguar EPC. You can order it from gaudinjaguarparts.com for about $14

Many thanks for replying. Yes, this is the part number i have and used to order from my local Jag dealer. But when it arrived it's not the right one. The correct one has a "lip" or "flange" to it so it sits in the cooler itself. Jaguar insist it is correct. My local Jag dealer have been very helpful. They even ordered a cooler and texted me a photo of the actual seal i need that comes with it...and it's NOTHING like the one with the JLM21003 part number. Something seriously wrong with Jag part labeling for this Model. Quite bizarre. Hoping i don't need to pay $400 for a new oil cooler just to get a seal.

One tip on Jaguar's is the main way to properly identify the part you need is to supply the last 6 digits of your VIN and that part number you already have.
Might need to call a dealer but most factory parts sites will work too.

Jaguar makes many running changes and what you have found out is very common.

Thanks clubairth 1. I have just contacted my local Jag dealer mentioning this information. Will post the result.
