Oil Pressure Measurement 3.0 (2004)
I have a friend that has a 2004 S-Type 3.0 he just bought and is concerned he may have some oil pressure issues due to some additive. (I think AT-205 reseal and he put in 2 and not one bottle). I told him that I did not think an extra 6-8 ounces would affect his oil pressure in a car that had some 235 ounces of oil. However, he wants to make sure.
I have several questions as I am trying to be of some "minor" help.
1. What should the oil pressure be in these cars? I was just guessing somewhere in the 30-40 psi, but that is only a guess.
2. I have an Icarsoft for Jag but they do not seem to show a reading for oil pressure, unless I have lost my reading skills. Does the SDD (which I also have) have a reading for oil pressure and does anyone know, by chance - where it is in the SDD?
Thanks for the help. I would not be one that would try to do the old fashioned way of attaching a gauge and will leave that for someone else.
Thanks

(I stopped when I needed glasses)If looking to read oil pressure via the OBD interface, look in your scanner menu for the special section labeled "Sensors That Don't Exist".
(Pause for laughter to die down)
As far as I know, there is no variable sensor to transmit oil pressure. There is a simple on/off switch for low oil pressure, which turns on the idiot light on the instrument cluster. I don't know the exact specs, but is probably around 5PSI. Above that, the light is off. Below that pressure, the light illuminates. See figure 07.1 in the 2004 wiring diagram:

There is a variable sensor for oil temperature. Jaguar calls this the EOT (Engine Oil Temperature) sensor. It's strictly temperature, not pressure. See figure 03.1 in the same diagram:

I will just tell him to get an oil change and do what he wants, otherwise, to be on the safe side. This AT-205 gets high praise from Scotty Kilmer and others (for whatever that is worth). I really can't imagine that while it calls for basically 1.5 ounces per quart/liter, that an additional 6 ounces would make that much difference in a system with 235 ounces of oil. But what do I know?
Thanks again Karl
