owner of a xjr wants to know how a s- type does in snow
so i want to buy a s-type but i want to know how good is it in snow? mmmm... any other problems that i might face...mmmm the car has 51,000 miles on it, its a 2000... so what ya say fellas???
I drive mine year round in (normally) snowy Canadian winters. The S type is no better, no worse than any other RWD car- the secret to success is having proper ice and snow tires. Finding yourself some 16" wheels will give you a much better selection of tires at a much lower cost. Forget trying to 'make do' with 4 season tires, same as your XJR.
The DSC can sometimes interfere to the point of impeding progress in really deep snow, I don't hesistate to turn it off in such situations.

My STR drives fine in the snow.....I live inthe burbs of Chicago, and daily drove it, rain, snow, whatever.....It handled fine and out drove most SUV's.....I have a set of all season tires, and KNOW HOW TO DRIVE IN THE SNOW.....is the big part

I've driven mine in both snow and icy conditions. It seems to handle both reasonably well. However, when the snow gets above 8" or so it gets a bit dicey. The ABS and DSC systems work pretty well overall.

"That doesn't look like a factory color either. I'd be a little wary as to why it was repainted as well...."
I believe that color is called alpine green, and was a standard color in the late 90's and early 00's.

Above running with proper snow tires, I also bought two Rubbermaid containers, and put a 20kg bag of salt/sand mix in each. They fit perfectly into the boot, with no mess. This helped considerably with traction in the snow. I also kept the gas tank full of fuel to help with weight and traction.
I had no problems at all driving my S type this winter in the snow.

Don't be scuurrrdddddd....It is fun!
Any car with any tires can esily spin the wheels with more than just a gentle touch of the gas. Even the wimpiest of the econoboxes. Whether a car has 40 or 400hp is irrelevant.

it looks so nice!!!! yet so deceiving!!!.. so the car dont have track control??
