parking brake fault after changing caliper
Hello,
I just changed the rear left caliper on my S-Type (3.0, 2003) and got a parking brake fault on the display. Tried this https://www.jagtas.org.au/torque/tec...e-calibration/ to calibrate the brake but it didn't work. When I reconnect the battery the display immediately tells me to use the parking brake(calibration mode?), but when I do the fault comes back. Also tried disconnecting the parking brake module, but that didn't work too. Before changing the caliper I never had this problem. What should I do now? Thanks in advance.

How long did the car sit while the brake job was performed? Just a few hours? Or was this a leisurely project over several days?
I ask because the 2003+ models are very prone to certain strange electrical problems if prestart voltage is below a known threshold. If the car had been driven daily, the battery may have stayed above the magic level. But if it sat for several days, the appearance of this new problem could be related to battery condition and state of charge.
Scoff if you will, but this issue is common enough I’ve created this thread to keep track:

One caveat: A battery issue can cause a parking brake fault like you’ve experienced, but it’s often combined with DSC and cruise control messages. But read through that link anyway, as you will see some references to other faults such as binding cables, corrosion inside the gearbox, etc.

The job was done in about 2 hours and it can't be the battery, as I just got a new one. Gonna try to operate the mechanism manually today and see if it works. Is there a way to force the mechanism to open?
