has this ever happened to you? how much did it cost to replace?

i know the hood dent will probably be the most costly.

Hood dent repair: $400 - $500
Replacement Leaper ornament: $100 to $300
The look on your face when you realized that you just F'ed up your prized possession (your Jag): PRICELESS

Depending on which Leaper you have, the cost will be anywhere from $80 to $300+.

Sorry to hear that man.......I was proactive and pulled the leaper off myself, replacing it with a badge (my avatar). Sold the leaper on ebay for $130, the springloaded one.

It hasn't happened to me yet (knock on wood), but am dreading the day it happens. I have seen a few S's without the leaper, but it just doesn't look right to me. Ever since I saw my first Jag as a young lad, I have always "wanted the car with the cat on it". While I don't think it comes close to "making" the car, it is defiantly one of my favorite things on it.

This is actually my whole reason for getting the jag. I have loved them since I was a kid just for the cat. Now as an adult I finally got to have a "toy" and the cat is really all I wanted, it just happens to have a car under it!

When my wife has to drive downtown to the courthouse for various trials, she doesn't drive her S-Type for this very reason. Too many junkies and punks downtown who cruise the parking decks for various things they can rip off and sell for drugs. So when she has to go to court, she drives her 2004 Lexus RX330 instead. Nothing to rip off and sell on that vehicle....

Happened twice, got pissed off and installed a camera. Was the neighbour's kid who drilled a hole in it and attached to his chain where he also had a Merc ornament hanging on it. Made the father pay and warned him that any further damage would lead to my breaking the kid's knees. I swapped it out and have a badge much like Bull's.

Here is my contribution.

In case I didn't mention it in the below liinked thread "I loathe that Leaper" and don't miss it one bit. When I picked up my STR in Dallas to drive back to Canada I developed a complete disdain for the Leaper's butt I had to follow 2250mi.

I am not a fan of bling in case ya didn't notice...

I'm another that removed the leaper, replaced it with a very cool "Jagaur 3.0 sport" badge (from the UK) and put money in my wallet. No one has stolen my badge. Knock wood.

Really? I can barely see my Leaper because of the sloping hood. Either you're much taller than I or you have your seat positioned higher.

Looking at the posts, most are from our Canadian members. Its seems like stolen leapers are a hot item up there.
Enthusiast, did you turn the kid over to the police?I remember you mentioned that you moved to a new hood,I hope this kid is not your neighbor any longer.
The badge idea is much less costly and way less frustrating.
Looks good as well.

^I didn't go to the police, rather I threatened his father with some pretty choice words. Got the money to replace the leaper and opted for the badge instead. It looks nice and I haven't had a problem since.

I did move though, last I heard the kid was kicked out of school for selling drugs. Nice.

Skidz,

Ya got me. I'm 5'6" and stuff a beer crate under my *ss with my head out the sunroof when I drive. It's quite common in Canada...

MyBlackCat,

Peeps steal the leapers in Canada to sell and supplement their medical insurance premiums. Beer crates are quite popular to steal so more of us can drive with our head out the sunroof, eh.

First thing I'm doing when I get the jag is installing a camera on the inside with it's shooting direction towards the leaper. I dare some crackhead to try and take it off.

searanch: Funny as heck......

I personally like the leaper.... I don't see it's @ss when I drive, mine happens to have a tail!

I haven't had mine stolen either. I don't think it's an issue around my part. They just steal the whole car....
