Default Please help!

My car died at light had to push gas to get started.when it did it was rough n had small tick i managed to get to a parking lot before it died again.i changed spark plugs n it starts regular n idles but still rough n shakey i had my car taken to mechanic he said 3 out of 4 cylinders on drivers had no compression .he said timing chain lookd in time n ignition coils were good.and my car is over heating not on guage but its bubbling out and sucking back in. oil is smoking i figured head gasket by symptoms . he said cost of replacement was about same as good used motor? i cant afford new motor right now or that kind of cost i thought of doing myself but dont know what i should replace along with head gasket as far as parts n all what seals i need?

i couldnt find where to add my car specification but its a 2003 s-type 4.2 liter not supercharged

How is the coolant level- do you lose any? Also, I would start with something simper- when did you last changed oil and oil filter?

yes i lose coolant . And i did oil change 2weeks ago (valvoline 5w-30

Yes i was leaking coolant. Did oil change 2 weeks ago with reg. valvoline 5w-30. new spark plugs n tested ignition coils. timing chain looks fine.it had spirt of oil on firewall n would smoke from back motor. along with the water level expanding and contracting.
