possible new owner
Guys,
I am seriously thinking about a 2003 STR as my daily driver.
I found one for $13K w/ 84,000 miles. I like the performance specs on it. I've been reading on it and I wanted a sleeper. 0--60 in 5.3 seconds w/ top 155 gave me a big thumbs up compared to what else is on the market in that range.
My other ride is a 2007 Range Rover Sport so I am very familar with the buttery smoothness of the Jaguar engine. I'll be trading the Rover in Sept for a 2011 which means I have a low budget for a second car.
Hence, after shopping around, I think the STR is a banging deal at 13K. Sure beats buying a new Honda Fit or Dodge Caliber.
What sort of things should I look for? Is my pricing good? I found another 03 and they were asking $11K but it is green. The one I was looking at is black and it is very clean and loaded - xenon, heated seats, nav and rear parking sensors.
The owners took real good care of it. Whats sort of 60,000 or 80,000 mile service should have been done on the car. I really don't want to drive out and look at the green one. Both have same mileage.
Should I be concerned about the mileage?
Also, a silly question, is there a video over-ride for the nav screen. In my rover, I got $300 bypass switch that allows me to plug in any video source (ipod, dvd player, zune, whatever).
I know the Jaguar unit is made by Denso and wonder if it is the same in Lexus or GM.
And can anyone point me to some pictures of all blacked out STRs on the net.
Thanks,

i got my 2003 with 26k miles on it for under 15......if that gives you any ammo to use. I looked up your info and im showing it to be around 12 with that mileage. so its close to what it should be.

LOL. I like murdered-out rides. Speaking of Knight Rider,
I'd do this mod:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XE9nwTW6J7Y
And put flashing lights in the hood or replace the leper with a flashing LED circle.
BTW,
I am in San Francisco so any leads on a black STR would be great.
