Power Steering Pump Question
Started just today to hear a noise near the bottom of the left front tire and more underneath the car. Just a whiny type of sound with a slight sound of clicking. If I turn the wheel it goes away and when I stop turning it comes back. It is very slight and not there all the time. If I increase rpm to about 1200- it goes away. Does this sound like the pump is trying to tell me to replace or could a change in fluid be an answer?
There is not trouble steering and it was only by accident that i heard it. How long before these things are supposed to give out and does someone have detailed instructions on replacement? It is a difficult install?
Thanks

Very little pump or rack problems posted. I would live with it unless it gets loud.
Don't forget the Lincoln LS parts will work. The uprated ZF rack was added to both the LS and the S Type for 2003 and up. One of the few things the LS got with the 2003 update.
